While racing cyclocross this season I had the privilege to race against the co-counter of the +3 Network Joe Fabris. Joe is a nice guy with a great vision for fund raising. The information below is from the +3 website. If you run, ride, or do anything active check out the website to see how you can help charities in need.
Plus 3 Network is a mobile, GPS-enhanced social network that connects people with corporate sponsors and worthwhile causes on a lasting journey of personal fitness and charitable giving.
Making It Count. With the Plus 3 Network, we let you turn every step, every hour in the gym, every stroke in the pool into a fund raising effort for a Cause of your choice. We do this at no cost to you via the support of corporate Sponsors - dedicated companies who care about the planet, about health and fitness, and about the things we can do together to make a difference. Values are placed on Activity based on either distance covered - like per mile for a run, or time logged - like per hour of Yoga. We have over 30 different sports and each pays a little different. And when we can validate a workout, through technology like a GPS, you earn even more.
Free. And as we said, this is all free to you. We've identified companies who want to support you as you get healthier, get social, and help others. All you need to do is choose a Cause/Sponsor combination and then get out there, either solo or with friends, and get going.
Activity = Rewards = Fund raising. When you record an activity on The Plus 3 Network, either by simply logging it on your Activities page "by hand" or by uploading with a GPS, and identifying it as a run, an hour in the gym, a walk, a game of soccer, or other -- we apply a value ($0.0x per mile or $0.0x hour, depending on the sport - see the table below). That value translates to money raised for your Cause and the Activity counts towards Rewards for your Challenges.
