Here’s an update from Gordon and Sue Martine on their annual team building camp for the local Junior Cycling Team that was held earlier this year…
We all seemed to have a great trip down to San Luis Obispo for our 2018 team building camp. We had 12 juniors and 8 volunteers. It was amazing that all the adults were pretty shelled after each ride and the kids seem to recover almost immediately! The weather held out for most of the day with a 20 minute hail storm. And, as far as I was concerned, I believe the hail is better than rain because we were not sopping wet and cold for the rest of the day. Day one of camp ended up being 78 mile & 7,825ft climbing. We had a nice team dinner in the hotel conference room. Sue and I had fun finding small tokens that reminded us of each junior that we presented. We also had some nice donated items to give each athlete.
On Sunday, we did a 60 mile ride with 2700 feet of climbing. It was a beautiful day out and it warmed up nicely compared to Saturday. We took team pictures at a scenic park overlooking the ocean. Attached, you will find some wonderful pictures shot by Gabe Stewart.
I would like to thank all our dedicated volunteers and sponsors for making this a fun and safe event. We already have the date for the 2019 team building camp set for Saturday and Sunday February 16-17th. – Gordon & Sue Martine
