Get in the holiday spirit by riding in the 3rd Annual Santa Cycle Ride – Saturday, Dec. 8th at 12 noon starting at Monterey Wharf.
Santa Cycle Ride is a short 10 mile cruise from the Monterey Wharf to Pacific Grove followed by post-ride recovery drinks and snacks at Melville Tavern’s
outdoor patio on Washington St (next to East Village Coffee).
Back by popular demand, we’ll also make a mid-ride stop at Recumbent Rich Campbell’s Santa-themed house in PG for Mulled Cider and Holiday Cookies!
Santa Cycle is not limited to Velo Club members. All Santa Riders are welcome to ride. Meet up at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey by 11:50 so we can organize and roll out at noon.
Santa (or elf or holiday) suits are required. Since many riders already have them, this year you are on your own to requisition your suit. You can find many inexpensive suits at Amazon, Home Depot, or probably hundreds of other places online. Locally you might try one of the Target stores or Party City in Marina (831) 582-9350). Below are a couple of links to Santa suits online…
Edit: Bruce French has some extra “Economy” suits. New, still in-package, for just $11.96. Contact Bruce or send the club an email and we’ll get you his contact info.
Support for those in need
Each year we pick out a worthy non-profit to support with the Santa Cycle Ride. This year, we’re raising funds on the Santa Cycle ride for Lois Varner and the Fremont Street Mission for Homeless Women, a charity that reaches out to local elderly homeless women. Lois uses donations to purchase and distribute items such as blankets, gloves, warm socks, food cards, laundry cards, bus and gas cards to homeless women in the area. Her assistance is limited to $10 per week per person, so any funds we raise for her will impact a large number of women. At the end of the ride, Cycle Santas will be asked to donate whatever they can to help her mission.
So get your Santa Suit on and join us on Saturday, December 8th. Meet at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey at 11:45 so we can organize and roll out at Noon. Here’s the Santa Cycle Course Map.
If you plan to join us at Melville Tavern after the ride, please RSVP by responding to this email at email@example.com so we can get a headcount. This is a “no-host” affair, so bring some cash to cover your food and beer costs.
We hope to see you for Cycle Santa 2018!
