Santa Cycle & Critical Christmas

There are two exciting December cycling events to help get you in the holiday mood.

  • 2nd Annual Santa Cycle Ride – Saturday, December 9th at 12 noon starting at Monterey Wharf
  • Critical Christmas Lighted Bicycle Ride – Sunday, December 17 at 5:45 starting at Custom House Plaza

Santa Cycle Ride is a short 9.5 mile cruise from the Monterey Wharf to Pacific Grove and back followed by recovery drinks at Alvarado Street Brewing. Halfway through we’ll do a short stop at Recumbent Rich Campbell’s, Santa-themed house in PG for Mulled Cider and Holiday Cookies!

Santa suits (or Mrs. Claus or an Elf if you must) are required. Last year’s ride was great fun and we expect this year’s to be even bigger. If you need a Santa suit, we have some inexpensive ($15) suits to sell you. Send email to veloclub@vcmonterey.org if you want to purchase one for the Santa Cycle Ride.

Meet at Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey at 11:45 so we can organize and roll out at Noon.  Here’s the Santa Cycle Course Map.

Critical Christmas rolls around Monterey once again on December 17, 2017. This is the 19th anniversary of this popular lighted-bicycle ride. This a family event, so bring the kiddies, bring the duct tape, bring the batteries, bring the lights, bring more lights and if that’s not enough lights then bring some more! The event leaves the Custom House Plaza at 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2017 (rain will cancel).

The route will start out on the recreational trail and then onto Fisherman’s Wharf, followed by a trip to Cannery Row. When we get to the Aquarium we’ll return through Cannery Row and back to Custom House Plaza. For those that have not yet had enough, we will then venture up Calle Principal, returning down Alvarado and back to Custom House Plaza for the exciting conclusion and liquid refreshments.

The event is Sunday, December 17, 2017 and is free to all riders. Expect to roll out at 6:00PM. Custom House Plaza is located at the water’s edge at the foot of Alvarado Street and not too far from Fisherman’s Wharf.
