Join us for another Velo Club Monterey Movie Night on Wednesday, April 4 at 7pm. The main attraction will be The Flying Scotsman – a feature film based on the remarkable true story of Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree.
In 1993, as an unemployed amateur, Obree broke the world one-hour record on a bike of his own revolutionary design, which he constructed out of scrap metal and parts of a washing machine.
Throughout his cycling career, Obree fights both depression and the governing bodies of cycling who ban his experimental bike and his unorthodox riding style. It’s an inspiring cycling film.
In keeping with the Scottish theme, we’ll also feature another short video from Scottish rider, Danny MacAskill, once again showing off his unbelievable trials skills.
VCM Movie Night is free for club members and a guest. We’ll have beer, wine and some light snacks, but feel free to bring your own if you wish, or put a few bucks in the donation jar to help defray the costs.
There is limited space with only room for 35 people, there so please RSVP on Evite and include a guest if you are bringing one.
