Hazard in a bike lane? Dangerous pothole? Broken grate? If it’s time to fix a hole in the middle of your road, the Transportation Agency for Monterey County makes it easy to report a roadway problem for cyclists. Access the TAMC Bike Service Request Form here to report a roadway problem to the county and they’ll send the report to the appropriate agency.
You may not know it, but Velo Club Monterey sponsors the local Junior Development Cycling Team which has been run by club member Gordon Martine for several years. The Junior Development Team has made great strides as they begin 2016. There are 7 juniors currently in the program. These young athletes (ages 13 – 16) include: Christina, Elijah, Louisa, Hanna, Sage , Ryan and Matthew.
The calendar may still say February, but you can see springtime from here and some early season organized rides are already on the horizon. Time to start training for one of the upcoming Central Coast rides that are an annual event for many Velo Club Monterey members.
The Museum of Monterey at the Stanton Center (MoM) announces an exciting film festival coinciding with the arrival of the AMGEN Tour of California on May 14, 2014. Monterey has been selected as a stopover and will host the start of Stage 4 from downtown Monterey to the beautiful Big Sur Coast south to Cambria.
The bicycle film fest kicks off on Saturday, May 10 with an afternoon showing of the animated film Triplets of Belleville, followed with an opening reception from 4:30-7:00 p.m., after which there will be an evening showing of Vittoria de Sica’s masterpiece The Bicycle Thief. The festival continues through Tuesday, May 13, 2014 with showings of Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Premium Rush and American Flyers.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Museum of Monterey-Stanton Center during regular opening hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Sunday noon-5 p.m.)
